Kindroid vs Nomi: Which Memory Companion Should You Pick?

These are the two memory-first companions, and they share a lot: layered memory, voice calls, group chats, phone apps and an API. The difference is in the details. Kindroid documents its memory more fully, adds live video calls and puts its adult rules in writing. Nomi is cheaper, lets you chat free with no card, and shows you its memory through a Mind Map. For most people Kindroid is the better choice, because the written rules and fuller feature set matter over months of use. Nomi is the smart pick if price is tight or you want a long free trial run.

Price

Kindroid’s App Store prices are $15.99 a month, $42.99 for 3 months and $159.99 a year. It says the web price is usually lower, so subscribe there if you can. Ultra ($28.99) and MAX ($68.99) cost extra. Chat is unlimited, and selfie and audio credit packs cover use past the monthly grant. Before you pay, you get a one-time preview: 50 messages (15 in some regions), 5 selfies and 2 Kindroids. The 3-day trial needs a card and converts to a paid plan if you do not cancel.

Nomi’s chat is free, no card needed. On the App Store, the Launch Plan is $59.99 for a year or $9.99 for a month. The Standard plan is $15.99 a month, $39.99 a quarter or $99.99 a year. Videos and requests beyond the daily limits use Nomi Credits, from 40 for $4.99.

Nomi is clearly cheaper, and its free chat lasts as long as you like, while Kindroid’s preview is a one-time allowance.

Features

Memory. Kindroid lists five pieces: a backstory, key memories and long-term memory, then journals that hold up to 500 entries, then cascaded memory once you pay. Nomi has short, medium and long-term memory, and its Mind Map lets you see what it has stored. Kindroid gives you more levers; Nomi makes the result easier to check.

Calls and media. Kindroid sends photo and video selfies and voice messages, and adds live voice calls and live video calls. Nomi sends selfies, image art, AI video and voice messages, and runs hands-free voice calls. Only Kindroid offers video calls.

Customization. On Kindroid you set the name, personality, backstory, look and voice; subscribers can add a custom voice. On Nomi you write a backstory and preferences and shape the look through the image system.

Group chats and platforms. Both support group chats. Both run on iOS, Android and the web, and both offer an API.

Privacy and trust

Kindroid’s moderation policy allows NSFW and erotic roleplay and bans child sexual content, harm to others, imminent self-harm and non-consensual intimate images of real people. Nomi’s App Store listing is 18+ with sexual content or nudity behind in-app controls, but its own terms do not set adult rules, and NSFW selfies may fail.

Kindroid keeps chats until you delete the AI or your account, encrypts them at rest and in transit (not end to end), and does not say whether it trains on them. Nomi’s policy refers to training archives without making their use clear, and personal data is removed about 28 days after you delete your account.

On age, a card on file counts as proof for Kindroid, and flagged free users verify through Yoti with a selfie or ID. Nomi takes your age at sign-up and may add more checks.

Neither is generous with refunds. Kindroid calls sales generally final, with no prorated refunds. Nomi’s payments are non-refundable, and any refund is at its discretion. On Trustpilot, Kindroid’s small sample complains about NSFW limits, billing and memory; Nomi’s reviewers praise the memory but complain about refunds and filters.
