Candy AI vs Nomi: Which AI Companion Is Worth It?

The short version

Candy AI and Nomi sit close on price but aim at different things. Candy AI is built around looks and media: a detailed appearance builder, photos, calls and short clips, at a very low yearly rate. Nomi is built around conversation: layered memory you can actually inspect, voice calls, group chats and apps on your phone. For most people Nomi is the better pick. You can try it free for as long as you want, the memory is in a different league, and the paid plan costs only a little more per year. Candy AI wins if your main goal is explicit images and you want the lowest bill.

Price

Candy AI’s yearly plan is $3.99 a month, paid as $47.88 up front. Monthly billing is $9.99 for the first month and $13.99 after that. Subscribers chat without limit, while images, video, voice messages, calls and extra characters spend a grant of 100 tokens a month (330 on Premium Plus). The free tier is only 5 messages, 1 custom character and 1 image.

Nomi lets you chat free with no card. On the App Store, the Launch Plan is $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year. The Standard plan is $15.99 a month, $39.99 a quarter or $99.99 a year. Videos and requests past the daily limits use Nomi Credits, which start at 40 for $4.99.

On a yearly plan, the two are about $12 apart. Nomi’s free chat gives you a much better look before you spend anything.

Features

Memory. Nomi keeps short, medium and long-term memory, and the Mind Map shows what it has learned about you. Candy AI says it remembers preferences, adds 20 memory slots on Premium Plus, and ties memory to the chat you are in, so a new chat starts fresh.

Character setup. Candy AI’s builder covers ethnicity, age range, eyes, hair, body, personality, voice and hobbies. Nomi has you write a backstory and preferences and sets the look through its image system.

Media. Both send selfies and voice messages and make short video. Candy AI’s voice calls are still in beta, and its clips start from generated images. Nomi has hands-free voice calls, image art and AI video, and you can put several Nomis in a group chat.

Platforms. Candy AI runs in a browser only. Nomi has iOS and Android apps, a web version and an API.

Privacy and trust

Candy AI states its adult rules on the subscriptions page, which lists 18+ images and video on every Premium plan, and its blocked content policy bans child sexual content, minor-like content, deepfakes and celebrity impersonation. Nomi relies on its App Store listing, which is 18+ with sexual content or nudity behind in-app controls; its terms do not cover adult content, and NSFW selfies may fail.

On data, Candy AI’s privacy notice allows de-identified chats to be used for training and may hold your account data for as long as 3 years once you stop logging in. Nomi’s policy refers to training archives without explaining how chats are used, and removes personal data about 28 days after account deletion.

Age checks are light on both: a self-declaration on Candy AI, and an age given at sign-up on Nomi, with more checks possible.

Refunds: Candy AI returns money only inside 24 hours, for card payments, if you spent no more than 20 tokens; the EU and UK add a 14-day right. Nomi’s payments are non-refundable, with refunds only at its discretion. Nomi’s Trustpilot reviewers praise the memory and complain about refunds and filters. Candy AI’s Trustpilot profile was removed for a guideline breach.

Who should pick which

Choose Nomi if you want a companion that remembers what you told it, you want to try it free before paying, or you chat on your phone. It is the better all-round choice. Start on free chat and move to the yearly Launch Plan if it clicks.

Choose Candy AI if you want explicit photos and short clips at the lowest yearly price, and you care more about how your companion looks than how much it remembers. Read the training clause first, and watch your token balance.
