Candy AI vs Kindroid: Cheap Photos or Deep Memory?

The short version

Candy AI is the budget pick: a low yearly price, a detailed look builder and photos on tap. Kindroid is the companion you keep for months: layered memory, live voice and video calls, written adult rules and apps on every platform. For most people Kindroid is the better choice. It costs several times more, but it does the core job of a companion, remembering you, far better, and unlike Candy AI, its published terms do not say chats are used for training. Pick Candy AI only if price is the deciding factor and you mostly want pictures.

Price

Candy AI’s yearly plan works out to $3.99 a month, charged as $47.88 at once. Monthly billing is $9.99 for the first month and $13.99 after that, and a 3-month plan is $26.97. Text chat is unlimited for subscribers. Images, video, voice messages, calls and extra custom characters draw on a token grant of 100 a month, or 330 on Premium Plus. The free tier is a peek: 5 messages, 1 custom character and 1 image.

On the App Store, Kindroid costs $159.99 a year, $42.99 per quarter or $15.99 monthly. Kindroid adds that buying on the web is usually cheaper. Ultra ($28.99) and MAX ($68.99) cost extra. Chat is unlimited too, and you can buy selfie and audio credit packs when the monthly grant runs out. The free option is a one-time preview of 50 messages (15 in some regions), 5 selfies and 2 Kindroids. The 3-day trial needs a card and becomes a paid plan unless you cancel.

If your budget is fixed, Candy AI wins on price. Just know that 100 tokens a month will not cover heavy photo or call use.

Features

Memory. This is the real gap. Kindroid splits memory into a backstory, key memories and long-term memory, adds journals that hold up to 500 entries, and turns on cascaded memory when you subscribe. Candy AI says your companion remembers preferences, Premium Plus adds 20 memory slots, and memory does not carry between separate chats.

Look and personality. Candy AI’s builder is the more visual one: you pick hair, eyes, body, ethnicity, age range, personality, voice and hobbies before you send a word. On Kindroid you set the name, personality, backstory, look and voice, and subscribers can add a custom voice.

Media and calls. Candy AI sends images and voice messages, runs voice calls (still in beta) and turns generated images into short video clips. Kindroid sends photo and video selfies and voice messages, and adds live voice and live video calls. It also supports group chats.

Platforms. Candy AI runs in a browser only. Kindroid has iOS and Android apps, a web app and an API.

Privacy and trust

Candy AI’s privacy notice lets it use de-identified chats to train AI models, and it can keep account data for up to 3 years after you stop using it. Age is a self-declaration at entry. Its blocked content policy bans child sexual content, minor-like content, deepfakes and celebrity impersonation. The Trustpilot profile was removed for a guideline breach, so there is little outside feedback.

Kindroid allows NSFW and erotic roleplay in a written policy and draws hard lines at child sexual content, harm to others, imminent self-harm and intimate images of real people made without consent. A card on file counts as age proof; flagged free users go through Yoti with a selfie or an ID. Chats stay until you delete the AI or your account and are encrypted at rest and in transit, not end to end. Kindroid does not say whether it trains on them. Its Trustpilot sample is small and mostly negative, with complaints about NSFW limits, billing and memory.

Refunds are tight on both. Candy AI’s window is 24 hours, card only, with 20 tokens or fewer used. Kindroid calls sales generally final, with no prorated refunds.

Who should pick which

Choose Kindroid if you want one companion that keeps a long shared history with you, you use your phone, or you want video calls. It is the stronger choice overall. Use the free preview, then subscribe on the web to get the lower price.

Choose Candy AI if you want the cheapest companion that still sends photos and talks back, you are happy in a browser, and you can accept the training clause. Pay for the year, and plan on extra tokens if you like calls.
