What is Unstable Diffusion?

Unstable Diffusion is a browser-based generator at unstability.ai. It hosts more than 120 models, from open families like SDXL, Pony and Illustrious to Flux, Seedream and GPT-Image, plus a library of over 40,000 LoRA influences. Its acceptable use policy allows adult content with fictional characters and spells out the bans: sexual deepfakes of real people, CSAM including fictional depictions, and bestiality. You pay one flat monthly price, and everyday models come from an unlimited pool, so the bill does not grow with each image.

A very large model menu

You change models straight from the prompt box. That makes it easy to compare a realistic checkpoint with an anime one on the same prompt. For a hosted service, the range is hard to match, and you never download a file.

Flat-rate unlimited pool

The Pro plan costs $30 a month. Standard models draw from an unlimited pool, while premium models use a weekly Heavy pool. Max plans add more. If you generate a lot, this is easier to budget than credit packs.

Reference images and LoRA stacks

Seedream 5.0 Pro takes up to 10 reference images, which helps keep a character’s face steady across a set. You can also stack character LoRA influences on top of a base model.

Image-to-image and reference-guided edits work through Seedream 5.0 Pro. That covers simple changes, but see the limits below.

The catch

There is no free tier to keep, only a possible short trial. Under the privacy policy, personal data stays on file with no end date until you ask for it to be deleted, and every image can be seen by moderators. The terms do not say who owns the output, and the company may use generated images in its marketing. Inpainting and upscaling are not listed, and renders can be slower at busy times. Age is self-declared with no check.

Final verdict

If you make many images and do not want to run your own hardware, this is the hosted service to look at first. The flat price and model range beat credit-based rivals for heavy use. Before you pay, decide if you can live with the data rules: long retention, moderator access and unclear ownership. If privacy matters most, run models locally instead.
