What is Voxta?

Voxta is desktop software for talking to an AI companion by voice. You speak, it answers out loud, and you can cut in while it is still talking. The app can run local models, its own cloud, or a mix of both. For speech, you choose the engine: ElevenLabs, Fish Audio, Voxta Cloud or a fully local option. The Lite plan is free and includes 650 cloud credits a month. The User plan costs $6 a month, paid plans add local AI, and the top tier is $99 a month. It runs on Windows, Linux and Android. There is no macOS or iOS version.

Key features

Local mode

You can run the whole thing on your own computer. In local mode the chats stay on your machine. For an adult companion, that is about as private as it gets in this category.

Pick your voice engine

Voxta does not lock you into one voice provider. Use a cloud service if you want polished voices, or a local engine if you want nothing to leave your PC. You can change your mind later.

Interruptible conversation

You can interrupt the companion mid-sentence, the way you would in a real talk. Many voice tools make you wait for the full reply first. Voxta does not publish its latency, so how fast it feels depends on your setup.

Voxta Cloud

If your PC is not strong enough for local models, Voxta Cloud runs them for you. Voxta says the cloud does not save chat data.

The catch

The terms ban only violent extremism and sexual abuse of minors. There is no general rule on adult content, and no age check is published. If you use a third-party engine like ElevenLabs, that company’s own policy still applies to the audio. Voxta also publishes no cloning rules, and there are no public reviews to show how billing or support work.

Final verdict

Voxta suits you if you want a voice companion that lives on your own hardware and you do not mind some setup. The free tier and low first paid plan make it easy to start. The trade-off is thin rules and a Windows-first approach. Mac users should look elsewhere.
